Film Review #32
When I was at NFFTY a saw a the same Volvo commercial a million times a day, as it was a new commercial directed by the founder of NFFTY. The commercial showed the transition of children viewing the world in reverse from the backseat of Volvo's to adults (driving age people) viewing the world as it moves forward from behind the wheel. The cinematography is pretty nice although that is typical in commercials. Many car commercials are beginning to relay how long cars of their respective companies stay in people's families and travels through generations and are using that as an advertising mechanism. I liked the concept behind this commercial because although it depicted the sustainability of Volvo's through different generations of people, it personalized the car to the protagonist of the commercial. The commercial was narrated by her and focused mainly on her experience with "moving forward" with Volvo's. It was pretty cool and I now know the commercial verbatim.
